A systematic review of music-based interventions

What did we aim to do?

This review aimed to identify and synthesize evidence on the implementation and impact of music-based interventions on health outcomes for SCD populations, and evaluate their potential as culturally-centered strategies for improving these outcomes.

What were our main findings?

Only 8 studies were found, all conducted in the U.S. Despite the small evidence base, the results suggest that music-based interventions provide benefits in reducing pain and addressing mental health and wellbeing, showing promise for improving patient outcomes.

What did we aim to do?

This is the first study to jointly examine public knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs alongside trusted sources, preferred channels, and receptivity to music-based communication among people living with SCD and the general public.
