New York University partners with the Adekunle Gold Foundation to explore the power of music to improve science on Sickle Cell Disease and mental health. The partnership - the first of its kind between a research institution and an internationally renowned music artist - launched in September 2025 in recognition of National Sickle Cell Awareness Month.

Adekunle Gold is a powerful storyteller who is using his platform to bring much-needed attention to the experience of those living with sickle cell disease. His music doesn’t just sound good—it says something. His message is clear: ‘your condition does not define your potential,’
